We are excited to let our PhoneLabs community know that Matt Verdon at ASMS ran the first PhoneLabs physics class today using our acceleration web app.
You can see Matt, with a 3D printed Lab Set on which the phone is mounted. The phone can then be spun around to demonstrate centripetal force by the visual display of acceleration. This is an important step for us in introducing phones into physics classes. In most schools, phones are banned during classes. PhoneLabs can make them an integral part of such learning environments.
While we are yet to learn how best to use PhoneLabs to introduce Physics concepts, we are pleased that seeing acceleration can help students visualise it. “Seeing is believing” – seeing acceleration on their on their own phones will help them understand it better.
